Elo will start reviewing entrepreneurs’ YEL income for 2026
/ News
The government announced a reform of the YEL system in April 2026. These legislative changes are intended to take effect at the beginning of 2028. Until then, the reviews of YEL incomes will continue as defined by the current legislation.
YEL income is reviewed every three years. This year, the reviews concern entrepreneurs whose income has not been changed in the past three years and who were not included in the income reviews during the past two years.
The first income reviews at Elo will begin at the start of June and will continue until the end of autumn. The reviews are carried out in batches to ensure smooth processing and customer service. The pension sector’s joint income calculator is used in the reviews.
We will contact the entrepreneur separately if the review indicates a need to adjust their income. Elo’s entrepreneur clients will be informed about the income review either by email or letter, after which they have two weeks to respond. You can conveniently respond to the proposal in Elo’s online service, and no documents are required from the entrepreneur.
What should I do if I receive an income proposal?
If you receive a proposal, review it carefully. You can influence your income level by responding to our proposal within two weeks in our online service. During the first two review rounds, your current income can be increased by a maximum of 4000 euros unless you request a larger change yourself.
If the proposed income does not correspond to your view of the value of your work input, or if your background information has changed significantly, you can apply for a different income and provide justification. We will consider your response along with other background information in our overall assessment. If your income changes, you will receive a decision.
If you do not respond to the proposal at all, your income may be increased by a maximum of 4000 euros.
