Frequently Asked Questions
Why are this year’s details missing from my pension record?
Current year’s earnings are available on the electronic pension record. The information is updated within a month after the payment date.
Details of benefits that accrue pension rights and completed qualifications appear on the record only in the spring of the year following the payment or completion.
I have completed a qualification that accrues pension, why is it not shown?
Qualification details appear on the pension record in the spring of the year following completion. Qualifications completed before 2005 did not accrue pension and are not shown.
My pension record is missing public sector details, what should I do?
Keva is the pension insurer for the public sector. If your record is missing public sector earnings, please notify Keva.
I am retired, why can’t I see my full work history on the record?
As a pension recipient, your record only includes earnings after your pension started. You can find your work history in your pension decision.
Why is my annual pension accrual the same even though my YEL income has increased?
Your YEL income is shown on the record at the index level of each year. Annual pension accrual is shown at the index level of the year the record is issued. If your YEL income has not been changed but only increased through annual index adjustments, that explains it.
I have worked abroad, why is this not shown on the record?
The pension record only shows work done in Finland. If you have worked abroad, you should check pension accrual in the country of employment.
Why does the life expectancy coefficient reduce my pension?
The purpose of the life expectancy coefficient is to keep pension costs under control as life expectancy increases and to encourage longer working careers. If average life expectancy continues to rise, the coefficient reduces the monthly pension. To maintain the level of pension you would have received without the coefficient, you need to work longer. The coefficient cannot be removed, but its effect can be mitigated.
