Who should take YEL?

As a self-employed person, you need to insure yourself with a YEL insurance policy in accordance with the Self-employed Persons’ Pensions Act. The insurance is intended for self-employed individuals whose income (in terms of reflecting the value of their work input) is estimated to be at least 9,010.28 € per year in 2024.

Security during working life

The social security of a self-employed person is based on the confirmed income amount stated in the YEL insurance policy. In addition to employment pension, it provides security in many life situations, such as when an illness strikes, if your family increases or if you find yourself unemployed.
