Instructions for Students
If continuing at work or returning to work is not possible through workplace rehabilitation, vocational education may be considered. The aim of studying is to obtain a profession suitable for your health. On this page, you will find instructions for the period of vocational education supported by Elo.

Reporting Study Progress
Send us information about your study progress and enrollment as an attending student every February and August.
How to proceed:
- Enroll as an attending student for the upcoming academic year.
- Log in to MyStudy.
- Check that your school has updated MyStudy to show you as an attending student.
- In My Study, go to “Share study information.” Select “Comprehensive information on selected studies” and copy the link for yourself.
- Send the copied link to us in our Online Service under the Vocational Rehabilitation tab.
The link to My Study also serves as a notification of starting your studies. We will contact you if we need more information about your study progress. If you want to provide us with additional information related to your studies, you can send documents in our Online Service using the “Submit attachment” function.
If you are unable to send us the link to My Study, you can send us a certificate of studies and a transcript of records in the Online Service. Download the certificate of studies form (PDF).
If your studies do not progress as planned, please contact us at tel. 020 694 723.
You can work alongside your studies within your earnings limit. You can see your personal earnings limit in our Online Service. Working alongside your studies must not slow down your study progress.
Expense Compensation
We compensate costs arising from rehabilitation according to TELA’s recommendations.
• Standard compensation, i.e. compensation for study costs, is usually paid annually.
• You can receive travel compensation for journeys between your home and the rehabilitation location.
• You can apply for compensation for accommodation in another locality if you incur accommodation costs both at home and at the rehabilitation location during a work trial, work coaching, or studies.

Tax Card
Please remember to provide a tax card, as the rehabilitation allowance and increment are subject to withholding tax.
Income During the Summer
We pay the rehabilitation benefit also for holiday months. The holiday period is recommended to be used for studies or internships.
If you work during the summer (June–August) and have already worked during the spring semester or will continue working in the autumn, send us a message in our Online Service to check your earnings limit.
Working During Studies and Earnings Limit
You can see your personal earnings limit in our online service. Daily allowance, kilometer allowance, and meal allowance are not included in the earnings limit.
You may work or run a business while receiving the rehabilitation benefit. However, your studies must be full-time, even if you work alongside them. Working during studies must not slow down your study progress.
If your earnings exceed the earnings limit in more than one month, inform us by sending a message in our Online Service.
If you are an entrepreneur, your earned income must not exceed the earnings limit. If necessary, contact our insurance services to check your earned income.
If you work during the summer (June–August) and have already worked during the spring semester or will continue working in the autumn, send us a message in our online service to check your earnings limit.
Interruptions, Delays, or Sick Leave During Studies
Contact our work ability specialist if your studies are interrupted or delayed. You must inform us of any sick leave longer than two weeks or if your studies do not progress according to the rehabilitation plan approved by Elo. Your studies must progress according to the approved plan and at least 5 credits per supported month, i.e. at least 60 credits per year.
We monitor your study progress at the beginning of each semester. Benefits paid without cause may be recovered.
Graduation
Congratulations on your graduation!
We need information about your situation when your studies end, so please fill in the feedback in our Online Service under the Vocational Rehabilitation tab, in the section “Feedback on the measure.”
Now it’s time for you to enter working life. If you do not have a job after graduation, you can get support for employment from Employment Services. You can find more information on the Employment Services website.
