Vocational Education

In vocational rehabilitation, workplace rehabilitation is always the primary option. If your previous job or profession is no longer suitable for your health, and it is not possible to transfer to a new job through workplace rehabilitation, support for vocational education may be considered. The aim of studying is to obtain a profession suitable for your health. At Elo, we assess the appropriateness of your rehabilitation plan individually.

A work trial is the most popular method of vocational rehabilitation at Elo.

Education Plan

For your education plan, find out the following information:

field of education, degree title, and possible specialization
start and end dates of the education
 name of the educational institution
scope of the education in credits or competence points
the work tasks you aim for with the degree
 possible cost of the education.

Fill in and submit the plan in our Online Service as soon as you have the necessary information. You do not need to have already applied to a school or have a study place when you make the education plan.

The processing time for the education plan is on average about two weeks.

If we need an assessment of your study abilities to support our evaluation (for example, if you have a diagnosed learning difficulty), we will order an assessment from our contractual partner. We will cover the cost of the assessment.

Supported Vocational Education and Training

Vocational education can be a course, a partial vocational qualification, a basic qualification, a vocational qualification, a specialist vocational qualification, or in some cases, a university of applied sciences degree. Education can be completed as an apprenticeship, training agreement, or as in-person or distance learning at a school.

We do not support pathway studies, open university or open university of applied sciences studies, or other similar studies that do not lead to a qualification.

Studies must be full-time. We can support one qualification, and its duration can be up to 4 years.

Apprenticeship Training

An apprenticeship is always agreed upon at the local apprenticeship office. When the apprenticeship begins, send us the employment contract, apprenticeship agreement, and certificate of studies.

If the education is completed as an apprenticeship, the rehabilitation benefit is paid to the employer for the part corresponding to the salary. Therefore, a fixed monthly salary must be agreed upon with the employer.

In apprenticeship training, the guidelines related to students are generally followed.

Income During Studies

We pay the rehabilitation benefit during your studies. If the education is completed as an apprenticeship, the rehabilitation benefit is paid to the employer for the part corresponding to the salary. In addition, we pay the student a standard compensation to cover study costs, travel expenses, and compensation for living away from home. We reimburse costs arising from studies leading to a qualification according to TELA’s recommendation.
