Expense Compensation
During your vocational rehabilitation, you may incur expenses for travel, accommodation in another locality, or studies. You can apply for compensation for these expenses from us. Expense compensation can be applied for in our Online Service.

Rehabilitation Costs
Costs arising from rehabilitation, such as travel and accommodation expenses in another locality, can be compensated retroactively for up to 6 months.
Travel Compensation
Travel compensation is applied for in our online service under the Vocational Rehabilitation tab. You can receive travel compensation for
• journeys between your home and the location of your work trial, work coaching, or studies, if the one-way distance is at least 10 kilometers
• journeys between your place of study and your home municipality, if you have accommodation costs in both locations and the one-way distance is at least 70 kilometers
• journeys between your home and the meeting place with a work coach appointed by Elo, regardless of the distance.
Travel compensation is not paid if you are in paid workplace rehabilitation or apprenticeship training, as you can deduct these expenses in your taxation.
Standard Compensation
Standard compensation, i.e. compensation for study costs, is usually paid annually. At the start of your studies, standard compensation is paid when you have sent us a link to your My Study or a certificate of studies. Thereafter, standard compensation is paid at the beginning of each autumn semester when you have provided an up-to-date link to your My Study, alternatively, a certificate of studies and a transcript of records.
You do not need to apply for standard compensation separately; we process it automatically. The amount and payment date of the standard compensation are shown in our Online Service once it has been processed.
We compensate costs arising from studies leading to a qualification according to TELA’s recommendation. TELA confirms the amount of the standard compensation annually.
Compensation for Accommodation in Another Locality
If you incur accommodation costs both at home and at the rehabilitation location during a work trial, work coaching, or studies, we compensate additional costs for the months of rehabilitation according to TELA’s recommendation. The distance between your home and the rehabilitation location must be at least 70 km.

Accident Insurance
We insure you against accidents during unpaid work trials or work coaching. In an entrepreneur’s work trial, the entrepreneur must arrange sufficient insurance coverage themselves.

Business Subsidy for Entrepreneurs
With a business subsidy, we can support entrepreneurs or those planning to become entrepreneurs. Business subsidy can be granted for the purchase of tools and equipment related to the practice of a profession.
