Before Applying for Rehabilitation

We can support your vocational rehabilitation if all the following conditions are met:

• you are not yet of old-age pension age, and
• there is a risk that you may need to retire on a disability pension in the coming years, and
• you have accrued earnings subject to earnings-related pension insurance or YEL income totaling at least €42,048.18 (in 2025) over the previous five calendar years, and
• you are not entitled to vocational rehabilitation based on an accident or traffic injury, and
• your vocational rehabilitation is appropriate, meaning it can support your continued employment or return to work.

In addition, you must have had earnings subject to earnings-related pension insurance or a valid YEL insurance during the past 36 months. This requirement is also met if, during this period, you have cared for a child under 3 years old or an adopted child over 3 years old and have been absent from paid employment for this reason.
